Bobby Roth explains why Transcendental Meditation costs money to learn.

Bobby Roth: People always want to know if this thing is so great, if Transcendental Meditation is so great why does it cost money, why isn't it free? There are a couple of answers to that. First of all Transcendental Meditation can't be taught out of a book. This isn't something that simple or simplistic. To learn Transcendental Meditation it's taught one to one by a trained teacher and it's taught over time. Four days of initial instruction of about an hour or an hour and half each day and then there's a follow up program.

So in order to teach people Transcendental Meditation we at the David Lynch Foundation and the Transcendental Meditation organization pay the Transcendental Meditation teachers a living wage.

Are there people who teach on a volunteer basis?

I learned TM many years ago. Best investment I ever made.

I was very skeptical that it could really "improve everything in your life."

But it really does. Nothing short of amazing.

That being said, I do think that their fees could be lower,

if they were creative about it -- maybe include more (trained)

volunteer TM teachers, and give them some extra benefits

in exchange for teaching TM at a low cost. If the goal is to

spread TM far and wide, charging $1500 is not a way to do that.

Seriously.. Even after a week, I can feel this simple technique improving things in my life.

My teacher was kind enough to charge on a sliding scale based on income and simply asked me "how much would you like to pay?". She accepted my first offer - which was significantly less than her standard fee - and has allowed me to pay instalments when I am able. In retrospect, and having experienced all the wonderful benefits of TM, I realise that these benefits are more valuable than any money or object in the world.

Sorry, but there is no way that I'm going to pay someone 1500$ for something that is supposed to be so helpful to humanity. Helps to cover the cost of this guys new suit maybe.

The bottom line i think is that even if it was free the very same people that say it should be free would not learn. Bunch of tight wads who want free music free movies etc .

@mom22many09 In my humble opinion, I think you would love TM. It is first and foremost a powerful energizer. It wakes you up and refreshes you in such a natural healthy way that it could very well save lives. I strongly support your decision to find some funding to learn! Best of luck, you will always have lots of support waiting for you with TM.

TM is so simple. The costs he mentions are no doubt legit but I could teach you in 5 mins. They're raising money for a good cause and teach you more thoroughly than I would. He also says if you're broke you won't get turned away. So. no complaints. Apart from some people would find the cost too great an obsticle. There's always a way. go elsewhere or raise the cash. Either way it's worth it!!

Im a single mom of 4 if anyone needs TM it would be me~i might apply for a scholarship as the stress i feel i feel physically and mentally and at risk of severe health damage

When I followed the short course it was about 120 dutch guilders which was a lot of money in that time for me. But it was one of the best investments in my life I ever did. TM is not a hoax. If Zen is an airplane, TM is a rocket.
