  • The camera has various settings that can affect record length at 4k but expect somewhere around 7-10 minutes out of a 16gb card. Also, the camera uses fat 32 architecture so it breaks a continuous take into 4gb chunks. you can use log and transfer in fcp and get, depending on your system, about a 10-1 ratio to "downconvert" your 4k to 1080 hd. But the plugin is old and your results will be better if you use redcine (avail free at red.com) I don't have any experience with other edit syst.

  • Why formatting and not reseting on the harddrive?

  • I'm sorry I'm not sure I understand what you mena by "resetting"?

  • Two questions:

    - what length clip (4k) will fit on that 16 gig card? aka: what's the 'clip length vs file size ratio' ?

    - Do you edit the footage using Final Cut? if yes, what is it like rendering speed wise? oh and have you used adobe premiere or (dare I ask) Sony Vegas (on a windows machine)?

I enjoyed the informative and focused nature of the video :) Any answers would be very much apreciated.

  • @098765432227 You should visit RED's homepage for more info about their cameras. If you then click on "learn", they have a few videos you can watch, where they tell you about the camera.
