A cover of an old Drifters song, 'Stand By Me' was an old standby (forgive me) for John. In fact, he was so fond of it that he would later release -officially- his own version of it on his 1975 album 'Rock & Roll.'
There are several recorded jams around this tune that are still left for posterity, some more interesting than others, most of which were initiated by John. But this happens to be one of my favorites. The whole band joins in, including Billy Preston on the Rhodes, though only John and Paul decide to sing. Anyway, enjoy.
