No doubt the idea of culling grey squirrels is analgous to gassing muslims or deporting illegals. Your obviosly a a man of the world with a wealth of experience, i think your right, we should just go for whatever and whoever is bigger better faster and just plain greedier. Death to all those lazy, low birth rate British piggies, lets get some nice greedy fast breeding imported ones. After all to the powers that be, this is just another pig farm.

While the red squirrel may not be endangered on a global scale, neither is the grey! the grey doesn't just displace the reds but its feeding habits and destructive life style also negatively impacts on certain bird species. The greys were introduced by human activities, they need to be culled to correct the mistakes humans made. We cull other invasive species with no objections, the grey should be no different, sadly people try to stop what needs to be done because they see them as cute.

@WABBITS8 The Grey is only here because we introduced it so the idea of "letting nature takes its course" doesn't apply, we are just undoing the damage we caused in the first place. Unless you think the Grey built their own boats and decided to invade the UK with the vision to conquer all our oak trees.

Oh and "animals where here long before us selfish humans"... we are animals, we evolved along with the rest of the animals around now, so that is just a stupid statement.

Hunting grey squirrel is actually a rural tradition in the united states. It's a popular enough game that there are actually laws that limit what time of year it's permitted to be hunted and how many can be bagged in a single day to prevent over hunting. The laws varys state to state.

Why is it, the British idea is if it bothers us kill it? Animals were here long before us selfish humans and have more right to be on this planet than we do. So the red got wiped out. Only the strong survive, thats the way nature works. Leave all wild animals alone. They don't deserve to be killed just to entertain humans (fox) or to satisfy our selfishness.

we kill grey squirels all the time. they are a pest just like rabbits and rats. grey sqirels are culed all the time as they cause way to much damage to trees
