@hamandcheesus maybe the lirycs are a little forced to rime with the verses, but believe me, his song have A LOT of methaphorical meaning. In this, as an example, he is saying that the girl is kinda nocive to him, he is hurt (sunburn), and she just got a "tan" (its better than a sunburn)... maybe she played with him, and now they are just strangers :)
Anyway, everyone has different tastes, so dont worry haha

@hamandcheesus 1 thing I've noticed about many Owl City songs is: the syllabic patterns coincide with rhythmic foci. In the chorus, there are several staccato notes and chord changes that all overlap with important vocal sounds. For instance in the line "She gave ... adorable," there were pauses that moved from coinciding to syncopating with the lyrics, drawing attention to certain words. I think that his lyrics are indicative of affect jointly with his music. I would argue it is not the same.

Owl city, I know I'll get hate for this, but the guy doesn't have much lyrical talent. The songs flow is really, really imperfect it just doesn't seem natural to me. As if the writing was forced, instead of jotted quickly, trying to keep up with the thoughts of the writer, as it is with most talented musicians. Just giving my opinion
