This is awesome....Great reusing the glass!

Excellent repurposing of sliding glass doors. Other than reusing as glass doors most folks don't consider reusing them as a solar glazing. They are nice as the galss is already framed and for servicing the solar heater hinges or slide arrangement could be devised. Bravo!

I'd imagine you get next to nothing in -15C temps in winter though. Have you ever considered mounting this against your house and piping some warm house air into it? For the minimal loss of house air you'd be gaining tremendous amounts in electricity savings. Great work...just needs a little extra warmth and you'd see temps of 180 to 200F going back into your house. At that point, you could even run a little tap to your shower or wherever, cutting out the middle man.

how to do this -

what if you put the plastic tube syste
m inside a box like this would it increase the temperatue ?

Like you said , easy& cheap, who can argue that?
I want to try a heat exchanger type. I picked up a second hardly used gas heater that had been in a flood. The cool thing is with gas control removed, you have an extra 3/4" hole to access where the thermostat threaded into.
I am fitting this 2nd heater with 50' of 3/8" soft copper, pushing it in and having it curl around inside the tank. Finishing it with reducers threaded into the drain and that T-stat hole. A serpentine panel will be used

if you slant your heater at your latitude + 15 degrees you should increase your temp. by 10 to 30 degrees....of course that might be your current slant depending on where you are located........very cool though im going to use your design..i picked up 4 doors off an old beer cooler...im going to glaze mine with...anytips would be greatly appreciated...thanks, ken
