Live from Jesters Pub in Fayetteville, NC, on 2007-09-29. Those Poor Bastards opened for Hank III.

Cameramen: Jethro, naz-t-hellbilly & wonka

Hailing from Madison, Wisconsin, Those Poor Bastards are tough to label. "Gothic Country" is about as close as you're gonna get. Lonesome Wyatt's songwriting credits include "Pills I Took," released by Hank III on his 2006 CD "Straight To Hell."

  • Hank III kicks this versions ass by far!! Thank these guys for attempting, Hank was probably back stage like, Ill make that song my bitch!! and he did!! Hank III Rules New ALbum MAY 2010

  • @the06rebel - not only did they "attempt" the song, but they wrote it. Hank III digs their version - that's why he covers it, and that's one of the reasons he brought them on tour with him.

  • this is my favorite band right now...they are gods.

  • THE fuckin' original! It even says in the Straight to Hell liner notes that these guys wrote the song. If you talk shit about Those Poor Bastards, the LORD shall surely smite you down!

  • I've always liked Hank III but... I've never found a band that I love more than this or any of Lonesome Wyatt's music that I have heard...

  • @JethroNC thanks for sayin that man, i respect that, THEY WROTE THE SONG, and both times i saw 3 play it he credited them, because he's not a dick and he likes these guys

  • you stupid dicks that are complaining about this not being Hank III are exactly why i hate mainstream music scene, it doesn't matter who did it better, just as long as it gets done.

  • @JethroNC I agree !!! Both Versions ROCK !!! perhaps if the dumb assess commenting negatively about this video looked around they would see Hank and Those poor Bastards Performing this very song or Hank Introducing this song as written by those poor bastards

  • Always just assumed this was Hank's song but, I like this version more everytime I listen to it now. :D

  • One of my favorite bands. Those Poor Bastards. Hell yeah!!!

  • It's very depraving and sad to see people discussing about "the better version because 5 minutes ago I still thought "the people listening to this music are pretty smart in general" but alas.... I hope each one of you youtube trolls ruining it all die slow and painfully!

  • @bbrowification Hank 3 does it better.

  • Hank III did not write this song Those Poor Bastards did. Hank covered this song because he is a fan of their music, so before any one else comments on how much better Hank is think about what are you saying and realize Hank is a fan of their music. Also when they opened for Hank, Hank came out on stage and sang with them on more then one song.

  • @phonenukers545 hank iii is a fan of these guys which is why he covered their song
