A portion of Pleasant Street in Knoxville between Kent and Harlen Streets was closed off for the majority of the day Tuesday to remove a large tree in the right-of-way on the north side of the street. Bill Morris of Morris Tree Service, the company contracted to remove the tree, estimates the soft maple tree was close to 100 years old. Crews used a bucket truck to cut and remove the limbs of the large tree which were then stacked into a truck to be hauled away and used for firewood.
