Today I got my car. It has a 354 Hemi, a 2 speed Power Flite, power steering, power brakes. It needs some improvements to succeed the check at the traffic administration. The windscreen got a big dent during the transport from South Dakota (- New York - Bremerhaven) to my destination. So I'll have a look for a replacement. The ring of the horn ring has broken it was just glued to the spokes. Always press the horn where the spokes are - never at 6 or 12 o clock. This way you'll be happy for ever.

  • Thanks, LSIVFD - your New Yorker is very wonderful! I like it very much.

  • I have a 56 Windsor completely down to the frame and it will be very close to the colors on your ride. Thanks for the look into my future.

  • @floyd066 Thank you very much for your visit at my video. I have to renew the wiring harness. I'll do it within the next 4 years. Now I'll do a emergency repair at the horn circuit and the loading circuit. I guess about 2014 I'll do a frame off restoration to clean and paint the frame as well as the floor/firewall inside and outside (and at this occasion to replace the wiring harness...).

  • Hello Jack

I'm very, very sad. I do not know all the sources for windshields for this generation of cars. All of them I contacted told me - sorry out of stock or not deliverable. I'm pretty sure if my car would be a De Soto Adventurer, a Chrysler 300B or an Imperial some would say "yes of course" instead.

I guess many owners of a 300B or an Imperial would use my car as a perfect donor car. In their sight a NY is worthless. I'm sad.

  • @MowagW200 Hey, Dieter...I came across a glass manufacturer..here's his website...sandersreproglass check the inventory, and make sure your car matches what he's got..and if not they may be able to mold one for you also...I don't know if they ship to Germany..hopefully they do. Good luck! :) Jack

  • @raconter1: Hello Jack, thank you very much for your idea. I'll check the website later on. I got a company in Switzerland that repaired the dent in the windshield. Because I know where it was I could still recognise the dent.

At the time I'm googeling around to look for all weatherstrips around the door openings. As far as I got out there should be weatherstrips for lock pillar, hinge pillar (/w visor), bottom.

    Kind regards

    Dieter

  • hallo Dieter, greetings from Holland, shame on the shippers, extra care should be taken with those pieces of art! I understand it is working out fine in the end? I am considering myself to bring over a 1954 New Yorker, my year of birth :) Yet there is one for sale in Holland with Joop Stolze Classic Cars, that would save the headache of possible damage during transport .... do you in genral hve parts availbale, or good adresses in the USA? all the best and congrats with your beautiful car!

  • awesome coupe! check out my 55

  • @MowagW200 Hey, Dieter! I'm glad you got some help there! I think weatherstrips should be in fairly good supply..if you have trouble, let me know...I use the monthly Hemmings to find parts for cars..they are pretty good! I don't know if you can subscribe to the book over there..try Hemmingsdotcom :) Jack

  • Jack, with a dent in the windscreen I could not pass the check point of the Swiss traffic administration - in Switzerland there is an absolute zero tolerance against dents in the windscreen for all cars and trucks circulation on Swiss roads.

I wish it could be repaired or I'll find a NOS or reproduction windshield for my car.

    Kind regards

    Dieter
