Here's one of French greatest love songs for the love of your life. "Vivre Pour Toi, Mourir Pour Toi," or "I Live for You, I Die for You," is a very romantic and beautiful love song of the 70's. I am featuring the version performed by one of Vietnam's hottest artists of that decade, Thanh Lan. I have heard some of Thanh Lan's old recordings and saw a few of her old photos taken in the 70's; then looking at her performances in some of the recent music DVD's, she still sounds the same. She still looks as beautiful as ever. This artist is amazing.
This song was made popular by Romy Sneider (09/23/1938-05/29/1982), a well-known German film actress, who was born in Australia and held French citizenship. Romy had received and was nominated for numerous awards throughout her career, including the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress -- Motion Picture Drama: 1963, "The Cardinal." Did you know that Romy was engaged to the famous French actor Alain Delon? They split up after four years being together.
In this clip, I included my English translation for my non-French and non-Vietnamese speaking friends. I tried to translate it as close to the French lyrics as possible, but of course, I refuse to translate it word-for-word. Why not? You know why, it'll sound very "funky" when you do that. So, I changed some of the words, nevertheless, the main theme of the song remains unchanged.
