Thom, the voters weren't duped into voting for the Republicans when they turned their backs on Obama in 2010. They voted this way as an expression of outrage & disgust at the way the Democrats had betrayed them when Obama swept into office on the promise of 'change'. And the Republicans didn't misread anything. They're not interested in mandates. They have their agenda which they pursue ruthlessly given any opportunity.

@Beannaich Thank you. That's another reason why it's hard to trust conservative politicians. They make it seem like everyone's taxes will be raised, when in fact that's not true.
