We have been mislead to believe that all people of a dark complexion have only came here in the Americas on "slave" ships. This is misinformation much like Christopher Columbus "discovering" America.

Okay. to be nice your misinformed. Black indians only exist because of slavery.  Runaway slaves bred with indians. Read seminole history and you will see alot of it. Shoot they even made alot of their black tribal members chiefs. Oceola the main seminole war chief his wife was black. So get your facts straight, and dont look at a few words and a picture and think you know the whole story.

the italians...named them indian...since columbus was italian.....or maybe the king of spain...named them indian......but to say the settlers did ....is wrong wording...the year was what 1400's...when the term indian was coin'd / written...so how do you rewrite their history.....as far as being native american....once again was 1500's..king of spain sent americus vespucius sailing....and a german professor published a map and they called this land america....

@urdum2 The settlers who landed in america called them Indian in order to find a just cause to take the land that they inhabited. If They call them Indians(People from India) then they could justify them stripping them of there land and culture. Well they are Americans, even more American than the those who came later. They were ignorant to call them Indians not knowing where they landed. But it is even more ignorant to contiinue calling them Indians today. They are simply native americans.

@urdum2 Are you missing the point? firstly, you ask anyone from Germany what their nationality is the they will say German not white german. Secondly, white is a color not a nationality. Indians are from India, that is why we call them indians or say they have Indian decent. There is no record that Native American (black, brown, tan or white) came from India so they should not be referred to as Indians.
