South African Portraits

Ive become a huge fan of the whole idea of a video-portraits. Im not sure where I first saw it, but I really started using it in the Static series. Good ol Phillip Bloom made us all look like fools with his Sofias People project.

Ive been able to shoot a load of these video portraits of people and kids while weve been in South Africa. Most know what a camera is, but they think Im just shooting with a big still photo camera. Ill switch the view finder around afterward and show them what I just shot and it just about makes their day. Its crazy to think that so many of these people here have never seen themselves on video.
