A very short piece of test footage at instating William Hartnell into Doctor Who's The Five Doctors.

Frankly, it's not very successful as it is too difficult to rotoscope from such old source material, but it's a bit of fun anyway. The audio is very rough too, by the way!

Hope you like.

  • Whats the name of the rotoscope stuff you used? I am doing something similar myself!

  • I used Adobe After Effects, as I recall...

  • Are you the same person who is making the Six doctors on Deminoid , If you are Can you tell me when its going to released ? I Cant Wait

  • No I'm not, so I don't know! I'm the charmingly sweet one with a hopeful outlook.

  • Then somebody stealing your work ! They uploaded the five doctors with all these clips inseted and this a bonus feature !

  • I stole it from the BBC, so I doubt i can sue.

  • Now that is magic! No disrespect to Richard Hurndall but there is only one 1st Doctor.

  • Sir William Hartnell was "The Doctor". All the others were Doctors. Apart from maybe, Patrick. He was the first Doctor if you think about it. That's why the Black & Whites are so important. More than the rest. Without Patricks superior acting, & Williams Belief in the show from day one, it would have never have made it to colour. The B&Ws are the Best Dr Who stories. So full of Atmosphere, Creative effects, & Pioneered sounds that it shows up the tacky show it's become today.

  • @scarperguy it dose look like a moonwalk I just played it backwards

  • @mitmfan

Only the living Doctors? Are you sure?

  • @MFPhoto1 First of all, no one was asked to participate in the 25th anniversary show, so it wasn't a matter of turning it down. It was never planned to do a multi-doctor show. Second, even if they did refuse, so? Tom Baker refused the 20th anniversary but did "Dimensions in Time" that celebrated 30 years. Just because someone refused at one point doesn't mean they won't do it again.

Personally, I think it is likely that at least the living doctors might take part in the 50th anniversary.

  • @therealKINDLE I noticed that Hartnell's acting is better than Troughton's.

  • @therealKINDLE and the crap little action figures made out of cardboard and tin foil that they filmed up close to look big :) lol

  • If you play it in reverse, I think it'd look like Hartnell was moonwalking...

  • @animationdude56 Yeah, someone told me. Whoever did it, did a pretty good job.

  • @sallyjosie no this is william hartnell. this guys' just superimposed a colourised clip of William Hartnell over Richard Hurndall

  • @sallyjosie I think the cost of adding Hartnell, Troughton and Pertwee, in anything other than a cheep cameo, would be prohibitive. Besides, they could not get any of the ex-Doctors to participate in the 25th Anniversary show, so I am not holding my breath for the 50th. Although Peter Davison did join David Tenant for that one clip they did for that charity program.

  • @MFPhoto1 UH I see. I did think that he looked more like William Hartnell here then on MY (Gasp) VHS tapes. lol Good work. Does anyone think that moffat is cleaver enough to do stuff like that or he will just take the easy road and just do some lame-azz Retrospective Dr who for the 50th Anniversary special. Don't get me wrong. It would be okay if it is in addition to a super spectacular special but not as a substitute! That would be, what we Americans call, a cop-out.
