How Great is Our GOD. His Glory Shines at Bishop Rwakaikara Special Needs Children's Unit! Look at All God has done this year in 2011! What an Historic year for Kagadi, Uganda and us too! It's all so Amazing and Inspiring!!! God uses each of us as a vehicle for His Love. Many of you prayed and helped make this years dreams come true and we are so thankful and blessed because of you!!! When word spread through the Uganda Kagadi Community about all of the New Blessings/ School Improvements, attendance increased at the Bishop Rwakaikara Disabled Children's Unit from 24 Special Needs Children to 57. Educating more Special Needs Children, who normally are NOT given the chance to go to school because their families consider educating them to be a waste of time., so the increase in attendance is a Huge Blessing , however now new mattresses, bedding and mosquito nets are needed for these Precious Children. Did you know? Just $50 buys a Full bed set for a child that has nothing....it includes sheets, a pillow, a mattress & a mosquito net. My hope is also to get each Precious Child a Bible of their very own. Bibles are written in their own language and can be purchased for just $10 through the Uganda Bible Society in Hoima/Kampala. As some of you know, my parents are leaving again for Africa in 11 days. I am again hopeful that we can raise enough for these items, so they can carry money with them again to directly buy the necessary new mattresses, bedding & Bibles. ALL FUNDS RAISED GO DIRECTLY TO HELP A CHILD WHO HAS NOTHNG!!! If you feel led......let us know if you would like to help. $10 buys a Bible. Every little bit makes a difference. As many of you already know, I took a trip back to Africa last year in 2009 with both my Mom and Dad. I grew up in Africa for almost 8 years and it was my first time back in 30 years. While I was there, My mom and I visited URDT (Uganda Rural Development Training Programme (My Dad's Great Love) www.urdt.net URDT does many amazing things to help grow and develop the rural communities in Uganda. While at URDT, in Kagadi, Uganda ...I noticed and passed by a Disabled Special Needs Children's Unit that is located right across the street from URDT. I immediately expressed an interest to see it. A tour was quickly arranged for my mom and me. You see....in Africa simply by showing an interest gives them hope. I was so deeply moved by these Precious Children at the Bishop RwaKaikara Disabled Special Needs Unit. They came out waving their hands in the air and sweetly made a welcome path with their hands to welcome my mom and me. They showed us their classrooms, and then their living area. The girls all sleep in one big room with nothing but a thin old mattress on the floor and with the clothes on their back. The same is true of the boys. These 'Differently Abled Children' as the Founder of URDT refers to them......are either hearing impaired, sight impaired or physically challenged. Sadly in many countries if you are unable to help to support your family financially, your family considers you a burden. These kids suffer from feelings of uselessness and many have deep depression. They literally have nothing, but the clothes on their back. Their water tank is contaminated and their water is retrieved and poured out of old yellow gas containers. Their food supply is limited. Their toilets are a hole in the ground and they have no showers. I didn't even see a single book. These images have stirred in my head for a year. You see it was a year ago today that I left on my trip. These children are bright, warm and loving. They just need to be given a chance. You see I Believe that with God All Things are Possible. He says so in His Word!! Matthew 19:26 (NIV)
26 Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God All Things are Possible."
My hope and prayer is to provide these Dear Precious Children with New Beds, Blankets, Books, Clean Water and Food. Most importantly, I want these children to know that GOD LOVES THEM!!! Blessings to you!!
