Usually it's not allowing you to have enough space on exit, like we should.
BUT, I have been caught out before, because multiple cars in front have left room enough to fit whole cars in.
Granted the lorry needs to be more careful.

Simples - the driver is an idiot. It clearly states not to enter the junction unless the exit is clear... if it's not, then don't and you won't "get caught out".
The only possible reason I can see is iff he was moving into a suitable space when some cars decided to beat him to it, thus stranding him... but it's not very likely (or is it Down South?).

LOL. Wouldn't you believe it! I have seen drivers try the daftest things and squeeze through the tightest gaps just for the sake of a few nano-seconds...
