Springers were bred smaller after the second world war, the true springer is a dog bred in Shropshire and was a larger dog, sometimes you can find the larger ones, build like cob horses , wide chests to force their way through undergrowth, tails were docket to show a dog was a working gundog therefore no dog licence was required, the Welsh are still docking tails.

"That's hobo style", How neat and wonderful to watch. From time to time I watch this. I have Alex, a chocolate and white English Springer Spaniel. My husband takes him to a park near our home . We live in a busy area on a main st. so he is always on the leash or tie-out on the porch. Our friend has a cocker spaniel,Arthur, and 2 or 3 x a week they go out to the park!!

they could be used for hunting purposes, the spaniel is an extremely hard working dog and it will hunt through the thickest of cover, if it was going through this cover with a full tail it would get cut and get a bad bleeding and infection etc
-
what lovely tails they have
the breeders dock them in canada and us, any ideas why?

I wish I had my spaniel as a puppy... we got shelby when she was three, (she's really old now)
Sorry, you are wrong, full pedigree!
