Video host David Hill of New York Habitat ( http://www.nyhabitat.com ) takes you through the trendy East Village in New York City. This neighborhood is made for those who relish in diversity. Students and artists who attend New York University populate this area and you can experience an energetic atmosphere while visiting.

You can find time to relax with a drink or two at McSorley's Ale House, the oldest bar in Manhattan or enjoy making your way through St. Marks Place. This three-block street is filled with history, stores, bars and restaurants.

Plan your accommodation by searching New York Habitat's listed vacation rentals in New York ( http://www.nyhabitat.com/new-york-apartment/vacation ) and Bed & Breakfasts ( http://www.nyhabitat.com/new-york-apartment/bed-breakfast ). Check out what New York apartment rentals are currently available ( http://www.nyhabitat.com/new-york-apartment.html ) and let us help you plan your stay.

The streets aren't made of gold -- they are made of food in the East Village. Get a taste of what the East Village has to offer, and I mean that literally. New York Food Tours let you experience great tasting cuisine as you walk through the area.

Take a look at this 1 bedroom accommodation in the East Village (NY -- 12864):
http://www.nyhabitat.com/new-york-apartment/vacation/12864 and see where you can rest after eating all that food.

Tompkins Square Park located in the Alphabet City area of East Village (East 10th street and Avenue B) provides 10.5 acres of recreational space for socialites. There you can see the first Dog Run that was created in New York City as well as the Hare Krishna Tree. Another park found in the East Village is the East River Park. Running along the Franklin D. Roosevelt Drive and measuring at 57 acres (Montgomery Street to East 12th Street), you have all the space you need for what it is you like to do.

Here is a 2 bedroom vacation rental in the East Village (NY - 14215):

So what else is there to see in the East Village? Find a 15-foot steel cube created by Bernard Rosenthal called "The Alamo", located at Astor Place - give it a push to make it revolve. You can also visit the second oldest church in Manhattan, Saint Mark's in-the-Bowery, located at 131 East 10th Street.

If you plan to extend your stay look through our available furnished apartments ( http://www.nyhabitat.com/new-york-apartment/furnished ). There is a lot more to discover in the East Village. To find out what other attractions are in the East Village take a look at our blog:

  • @DrAnchorActor Hello there! See our comment below (response to MrSwizzl3d), the rent depends on the type of several factors.

  • How come there are no birds in any of his videos.. not walking not flying.. I've always been told new York is cluttered with birds everywhere and they walk right up on people.. they God balls.. why do I never see birds in any of his videos?

  • @XHale4Christ Hey there! Thank you for your comment. There are birds in New York City but I don' t think that there are more than in any other big city :)

  • Tompkins square park was the site of protest against gentrification in the 1980s/90s. Today it has been reconstructed with a state of the art dog run. lol oh the irony.

  • @vajraloka1 Thanks! It sure changed a lot. It's impressive how fast it did actually. I was told that cabs used to refuse to go there 15 years ago. Now it's a pretty trendy place!

  • @NewYorkHabitat --hey , well it was changiing of course, the gentrification process was starting.but all in all it was good, i never went down to ave's b,c, d etc (alphabet city).I would peer in to that area like a observer of a zoo, but stay out ! i think we paid 600 hundred or so for a one bedroom. i split it so not 100% sure. buit it was a good time for sure

  • @vajraloka1 Hey there! Thanks for your comment! How was the neighborhood in the early eighties?

  • @MrSwizzl3d Thank you for your comment!

We have several apartments located in this area of Manhattan, and the prices vary according to the size of the apartment, the street where it is located, the included amenities…

Feel free to visit our website, start a search and select “East Village - Lower East Side” only: only the apartments located in this area will show up on the results page, and you will be able to browse through our selection of apartments located there ;)
