I'm very surprised that JP didn't know what a Pro Per was - it's all over the CSI episodes and I'm no lawyer or judge, but even I've heard of it! It might be Pro Se as well, and as for advising and preparing - legality I'm not going to go into, but if you go to someone as a lawyer to prepare a document, surely you ask advice at the same time. How do you know what forms to prepare otherwise?

... but is he a liar?
hahahahahahahaha

I find it funny and humorous; that even though "Judge Pirro" didn't like The Defendant's "arrogant" responses. She couldn't say that any of his responses were inaccurate or false. Mr. Bey IS well versed in the law, and one can tell that "Judge" Pirro IS NOT accustomed to a litigant being that intelligent when it comes to matters of law and legal proceedings. He didn't "bow down" to her, like she might be accustomed to. As the old saying goes; "Game recognizes Game".

@zion653 "Judge" Pirro had very little option, other than to be patient with The Defendant. He was absolutely correct in her original statements. He is Pro-Per Legal Counsel. He can advise people on legal matters; as a de-facto consultant, if they ask his advise on those matters, and he can prepare documents WITHOUT a license. Did you ever notice during this episode, that "Judge " Pirro NEVER RESPONDED to wether Pro-Per is in the Black Laws Dictionary. I found that interesting!

@HaphazardMedia012 The reason why all of these different "Judge" shows have these schematics, is because these are NOT Judges, as the civil court would recognize them. They are Arbitrators aka Mediators. One of the reasons why at the beginning of Judge Milian; the voiceover, informs you that these litigants have agreed to not have their cases heard in Civil court proceeding. These Arbitrators pay the fees to the winning case. A Judge wouldn't do that.
-
@zion653 Yeah you're right about that. This show is displayed as more of a talk show than serious matter. Especially, in the beginning where each litigant states why their here. They even " que " the Judge and litigants on stage and show the cameras alot. I personally watch Judge Judy, Judge Mathis, Judge Milian, Judge Alex, and Judge Joe Brown. I recently started watching Judge Pirro as i saw the titles of the cases are pretty interesting. She has gotten some good cases on her show.

@HaphazardMedia012 And, yes, JP was quite patient with this defendant. He displayed a great lack of respect for the bench, and she handled her composure well. Judge Judy, especially, would have torn him apart given his "legal" profession.
Also, I noticed that I appear to be tooting my own horn on my original post. That was not my intent. The point is that many have been disgusted at the manner by which JP handles her courtroom, often more like a talk show. That's why she couldn't get ratings.
-
@HaphazardMedia012 Woah, wait... I'm not siding with the defendant. He displayed his complete lack of professionalism in his preparedness for this court session. I believe that JP made the correct judgment. What I did not like was that she continually tried to embarrass him with her “Pro per-proper” comments and then incorrectly applied state law regarding "advising" legal documents to his business of "preparing" them. There is a difference.
-
@zion653 You must not know law if you're siding with the defendant here. The judge was on the money here. Any judge would have made the same decision. Especially, the ones who do not put up with nonsense such as Judge Mathis, Judge Milian , And mos def Judge Judy. Pirro was patient and gave the defendant time and in the end made the right decision.
-
@zion653 lol Yeah i do but you're wrong most of the time. Yeah i know her show is cancelled but that does not mean she was wrong in her cases. Plenty of shows get cancelled for numerous reasons. iDoubt it has anything to do with her judgements. Judge Pirro has plenty experience, More so over some of the Judges on television today. She was correct here. The defendant cannot practice law unoffically making up his own nonsense terms and rules. He even made up his own documents as evidence.

I like how she failed to acknowledge that "Pro per" IS a legal term after trying to embarrass the D by looking in her law dictionary.
Also, JP was dead WRONG! There is a difference between PREPARING legal documents and ADVISING them. He was not practicing law by "preparing" the documents and didn't need a license to do so. If you needed a license to prepare a document, NO ONE would be able to complete ANY legal document on their own. Example: divorce documentation. Lawyer advises, you prepare.
