Way Cool Motion Sign- Wiedemann Beer

Color bars move to reveal the name WIEDEMANN at the bottom. Can You figure out how it was made? Hint: It has but one synchronous motor like the one you'd find in an electric alarm clock, and just one moving 'part'.BTW, it was the same man who created the Synchronous motor that also invented spring reverb, and the tonewheel organ. Hammond, and hence the Hammond B3 organ. I'm sure that there is some inventive mind out there who could make a working clock based on the same engineering that went into making this sign.The manufacture of the sign was Kirby-Cogeshall-Steinau (KCS Company Inc. out of Milwaukee, WI).
