  • I agree that the Shettland is a little to heavy (not much though) but that is due to that we were to slow fitting the grazing muzzlle in the early summer. He looses weight during the winter feeding season and has perfect weight in early spring. To me feeding portions is not an option since that is proven to be the main reason for stomach ulcers on horses. I know that a small number of horses over eat even on CONTINUOUS Slow Feeding but then the horse needs life style changes.

  • Despite his grazing muzzle the Shetland pony looks still heavily overweight i.m.o. I too would like to be able to feed my horses (Icelandics) unlimited hay 24/7 but in my experience (I have tried it, with smallmesh slowfeeders) this is not an option because the horses get much, much too fat...
