@flytyerman ...an 8wt is probably a little too small for big migrators. i like to use a 10, 11, or 12 wt for tarpon. more often than not i hand my customers a 12 wt and only sometimes a 10 if a 12 is too big for them to handle effectively. check out a tarpon video i recently published called "one man ~ one tarpon", i used a 10 wt to land a monster this past spring! - mt

I am a Wisconsinite. Do people EAT Tarpon???? I do not know, but my bucket list location for our next vacation is going to be the KEYS. I have not been down there since 85'.

Looks like Robies in the FL keys. Islamorada mm go to robbies dot commm /tarpon dot htm A fun place to stop off to feed the Tarpon. Hey Wisc had those great lake trout 2 - 3 feet long to catch when I was a kid.

I'm from Milwaukee and caught and released a HUGE Marathon tarpon. Best fishing day ever. Not edible, they are all released or occasionally harvested for ''trophies'' (lame).

@mtbpt hey next week im going to palm coast to catch some tarpon red fish red snapper and tuna. im really looking forward to landing a huge tarpon. any advice on bait? oh an at the begining why didnt you catch that fish with yout hands.
