  • this video should have more views, ppl think that eating whole grains will help them lose fat. If you are trying to lose fat you cant eat any flour/starchy carbs at all. The whole grains opposed to refined grains will prevent excess fat gain but if you are trying to lose fat you need proteins nuts veggies and minimal fruit. This diet will be more conducive to fat loss.

  • One more note: I grind my own legumes and grains at home, then add that whole grain flour to my oat pancakes, hot breakfasts, stews, whatever - I have at least 5 to 7 different grains/legume flour in each breakfast. Easy way to get multi-grain in my meals. All there is to remember is to let the grain or legume flour soak in the recipe liquid before adding it to the dry ingredients. Sometimes, it will take a little extra fluid - no prob.

  • "Compared with other grains and some vegetables, quinoa is higher in protein, calcium, B vitamins and iron. It's also packed with lysine and other healthy amino acids and is gluten-free, making it easy to digest. Protein: 11g "

"Amaranth is a broad-leafed plant which produces multi-headed flowerets containing grain-like seed of extremely high nutritional value." "Protein - 19 g."

I've been growing and using Amaranth for 10 years now, here, in the SW.

  • Great advice as always Darin! One thing about the quinua, most organically sprouted (the key word here) grains and legumes usually contain all the essential amino acids, so don't be afraid to limit yourself to just quinua. :)

  • Darin is the BEST, isn't he?
