Mass Ensemble Live 2005 Los Angeles. Two of 2

I was waiting for the hideous Los Angeles traffic to thin out before my commute home after a day of surfing, and went to the Santa Monica Pier to take night photographs of the amusement park there, accidentally encountering the Mass Ensemble Dome set up on the pier running soundchecks. My first contact. I quote from Mass Ensembles Myspace: "MASS is an internationally renowned performance group that combines the creative forces of artists, musicians, composers and choreographers. Through an exciting blend of sculpture, music, dance and the visual arts, MASS continues to delight audiences throughout the U.S. and abroad. MASS Ensemble is known for large-scale instruments and kinetic performances. The Earth Harp, "The World's Largest Stringed Instrument" and other MASS invented instruments are unique to MASS, as they were designed and created by Artistic Director, Bill Close. The giant sculptural instruments provide a landscape in which the artists perform." Sounds grandiose, but it works, one of the coolest and most memorable shows ever in my experience. I love the mixed mediums, and they deliver the goods. See them if you get a chance.
