HEY! My Hero is NOT about Kurt Cobain. I'm not being a jerk I'm just saying the truth. Dave Grohl never said it was about Kurt, Nate Mendel never said it was about Kurt, Taylor Hawkins never said it was about Kurt, none of the former Foo Fighters ever said My Hero was about Kurt. Dave Grohl even said in and interview that My Hero was about the average everyday person who becomes a hero! That's why he hated on John McCain when he tried to use the song as like an anthem for himself!

right, there has been too much speculation over what this song is about, I'll tell you right now, this song is about people in everyday life who are orsinary and do like, extraordinary things with no credit or very little, it's about idolising ordinary people, he explains the meaning of this song on the VH1 performance :)

@nirvanafreako maybe as a "nirvanafreako" you're only projecting what you'd like it to be about, and that's cool. The beauty in music is that something someone says, can be related to by anyone who finds meaning in the words.

Besides, knowing what Kurt died about, and how he felt, to glamorize him in a song like this and knowing how Kurt felt, having been there through Nirvana's success...Dave wouldn't want to make him any more of a martyr than mainstream culture already does.
