Bull S**T Get a damn license and insurance , it covers the home owner and your business. And if your a tough guy who thinks your so good that nothing ever goes wrong , youll be the one with the lawsuit...

That's pretty much what happened. After I pulled these tiles off (with no effort) I had to re-do the whole thing myself. That contractor took off and never came back.

I said unlicensed and uneducated wannabe contractors! Licensed in and of itself doesn't mean shit, I agree! It's the lack of thorough knowledge that creates these problems. These yahoos go to a HOME DEPOT class on how-to-lay-tile and suddenly they are an expert.

At least with an active license, the consumer has some protection via bond.

As far as "reputable" goes, that takes years of stellar performance and great service!

@jonathanstile you can use a modern membrane like ditra or keri with the proper thinset, and installation...cemant backerboard is inferior?? hardiboard?? why so.. its impervious to mositure and mold... again it has to be installed right.. I agree with you on the mastic.... wrong mortar for any tile in a wet area like a shower or bath
