U idiot, the invented the genre of gothic opera metal. How can you say someone sold out when they INVENT a genre (that happens to be an amazing genre, if not the best ever). They made a lot of brutal (in a good way) music after their death era, which is just as dark and powerful as this.

Christofer is just a huge fan of Wagner and other classical composers, so he developed in that direction.
"Sold out"? The only people he could possibly hope to reach were a classical audience. And you think they even bother with any kind of metal just because of classical vocals and orchestral elements? That's just stupid. On the paper they even limited their commercial chances, especially because this thing wasn't "big" when they started it in 1993/95.
"Sold out", yeah right. Brains on, please!

they suck now because they sold out and had chicks join the band. now, i am a girl, but i think that therion was a brutal death metal band in their first couple of albums. they sold out for the image.

why did they have to sell out and get chicks to join?? they were an excellent death metal band, Beyond Sanctorum, an epic album. but just like every other band does for image, they change.
ahh whatever. true metalheads can still listen to their old albums and remember the good times.

I love all eras of Therion. They are the most brilliant band of all time. It would be cool to have them do their death songs live, with opera in them as well.
