@FilmComposeRaHoppe Yes, they worked in a similar way to those useless and very small boxes that people today call "telephones"... except they were less annoying. And the best part: children couldn't own them.

It is a pity that polkas are so misunderstood! They had a huge influence in the 19th C. around the world. This is sublime.
