@flashfyre 1st=5.60 2nd=2.67 3rd=1 4th=.67. and a rear end gear ratio of 3.11 not 4.10s with a 1st gear of 5.60 you dont need a 4.10 and then at .67 in 4th you could be pulling a full trailer at 70mph doing 1200 rpm hmmm looking at a truck getting 40 mpg highway..... food for thought is what im trying to give yall :)

@flashfyre diesel isnt big because americans arent used to it, auto makers are scared to offer a car and have it flop because the majority of the population still believes diesel equals bad for enviorment, and the prius in the hybrid world is horrible ask any hybrid mechanic the new chevy volt is freaking remarkable but what i would like to see is f150s with a 4.0 diesel twin turbo'd with a transmission gearing of the following....

big oil fucking things up. countless cars getting this kind of mpg. why can't we get them? your telling people wouldn't but a 1/2 toyota pickup with a diesel motor that gets 35+mpg?!

@MyGta123 If you live in the country or if you have a farm a business or something like that that needs a truck that's fine, your truck is paying it self and it is being used for what it was made. My comment is for people that live in the city have no business that requires a v8 but they have it to show off and to fell more powerful to the others drivers. For what do you need a truck in downtown new york??????

@Jaruco03 well where im from we buy 4x4 v8s because we actually use it we burn wood for heat so alot of times we cut wood its raining so we need a four wheel drive to get us in and out of the woods and also with enough of power to pull a load

Any way the show is going to end sooner or latter. When the oil gets to $20 a gallon it will be a different story. You can see a preamble right now on the Libyan crisis. Libya produces only the 2% of the oil output and already the prices are $3.60 were I live imagine what the price will be if something happens in Saudi Arabia that produce the 12% or the world oil output. Just do the math. Will you be able to afford your hummer or v8 truck?

This country is being controlled by the monopoly of oil. What they want you is to spend more and more on oil. You can see the TV how promotes trucks and v8 engines all the time brainwashing the people in order to support an industry that is already in decadence Why do you want a car that gets 200 miles in 4 seconds? to kill you faster? I see women driving hummers and v8 and ask my self if they really use that truck or just buy it to show off.

@1991ProbeLX Yep many tradeoffs to consider when buying any car. If the purpose is high torque, HP, and acceleration then buying a new car purpose built for high MPG would not make a lot of sense.
65 mpg is great, but in American gas is cheaper than almost anywhere else in the world and you can have more spacious and powerful vehicles, which is why if you were to walk out your front door you'd see a Hummer, an Escalade, truck, Expedition, and some V8 powered sports car go by before you see an economical car.

@tyIerz06 I see a lot of trucks and 4 wheelers outside because I live in a rural area. But there are a number of people on my block with toyotas and smaller cars. It's always a balance between what people want and what the vendors sale. I think VW's upcoming hybrid diesels might do well if they can get something in the price range of the toyota prius, which has been a good seller in the USA. It's not like everyone has to buy a high MPG car to make a difference.
