Billy Ward's Dominoes were the first super-group of the early R&B era. Clyde McPhatter was their first lead vocalist and when he left in 1953, Jackie Wilson replaced him. Jackie's voice is easily recognizable on this shag hit from the mid-50's, "(That's How You Know) You're Growing Old".
No wonder Jackie moved on. The Dominoes couldn't contain him!!!

The sound is really close to Fats Dominos, but the backing vocals give the song a more polished feel, however Jackie Wilson's vocal takes it on to another level, what a voice!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fantastic! Jackie's vocals are so strong, so emotive. He drives this tune. It's hard to believe how young he still was when this was recorded.
I greatly enjoyed this one.

This is great...I have heard this many times over the years, but never really "listened"...JW's voice is great on this song. . this for the Dominos was really an entry into mainstream Rock & Roll rather than R & B...a great example of early 50's R & R...
Got to make this my featured video
Thank You for posting!!!
