The Armenian Patriarchate of Constantinople is today one of the Patriarchates of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Church, but within living memory it exerted a very significant political role, and today still exercises a spiritual authority, which earns it considerable respect among other Orthodox churches, both Chacedonian and non-Chalcedonian. Despite a huge diminution in the number of its faithful, it is still the largest Christian community in Constantinople. On March 10, 1998 - His beatitude Archbishop Karekin II Patriarch of Constantinople passed away, and was succeeded by Archbishop Mesrob Mutafyan. The Patriarchate of Constantinople plays a highly significant role in the life of the world-wide Armenian community and runs as an autonomous Patriarchate in teh Armenian Church body, and also retains its historic prestige for maintaining the rich liturgical tradition of the see of Constantinople. Patriarch Mesrob Mutafyan serves as one of the vice-presidents of the Holy Synod of Armenian Orthodox bishops. It maintains close relations to the Etchmiadzon and Cilician Catholicates and the Jerusalem Patriarchate, it cherishes its heritage of scholarship and, in the absence of its own seminary, encourages ordinants and clergy to pursue further studies in Etchmiadzin, Jerusalem, or in foreign universities.

  • @kingsammythecat marriage is not forbidden in sake of oikonomia. and about baptism: Orthodox dont baptise some other churches, where the forumla is done corectly (in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit). Orthodox allow converts to enter church by Myro or confession, that doesnt mean that we are in eucharistic union.

  • @theNIKOLAOSm Except for the Coptic and Greek Orthodox churches of Alexandria, only marriage and baptism though so its a start brother!

  • @kingsammythecat theres no eucharist union with EO and OO. dyophisitysm and Miaphysitism - unfortunately that divides us.

  • Beautiful, I can see Christ in this church. Make this year the year of God my brothers.

  • Kanstantinopolis ! not istambul malakas

  • I hope we live to see Orthodox Unity in our lives! The Eastern and the Oriental Orthodox Churches of Alexandia recognized each others baptisms and marriages, both Greeks and Armenians are in Holy Communion with one those churches, so whats stoping us today, now that the political, cultural and linguistic differences of the past can be overcome!

  • @TheMistAnchorite The Christ in you humbles me brother! I'm Coptic btw. Not that it's relanvent. God bless you and keep you close to Him!

  • @GhinainanEvNoti sorry for the rude comments, please forgive mee it will not happen again . You are a better cristian than i whoould ever be in my all life . Armenians are true cristians and orthodox

  • @TheMistAnchorite God bless you and keep your fiery zeal but to a better and greater cause in Christ Jesus for our Orthodox Church. Lord have mercy on us, for we have all sinned!
