I wrote this song after I finished Mockingjay. I was completely in tears and I had to write something down! This is not the first book of my summer 15 in fact I wrote this song a while ago. I'm hoping maybe to write songs about the books I read this summer though.
Leave me a comment!! Here are things I'm interested in knowing!
1. Are you excited for the movie?
2. Do you like the casting?
3. Do you think they can accurately portray the violence and still keep a pg-13 rating?
Thanks for watching! Love to all (especially Suzanne Collins for writing such an amazing trilogy of books!)

Lyrics:
How far can I bend before i break?
How many more chances am I willing to take?
In the crook of your arm
It seemed like nothing could harm me
Now expectation follows my every move

They painted me as if I were a warrior
I played along, a mistake I'll always pay for
I wanted nothing but to protect them
Instead all I did was infect them
With a need to risk it all

Chorus:
How can I say that I've done right
When memories grab a hold of me and shake me through the night
How can I say that I'll be okay
When I miss the people I once knew every single day
I can only hope that I was more
Than just their Mockingjay

They had a hunger that we couldn't feed
So we became the victims of monumental greed
To give a son or daughter
Watch them play a role in the slaughter
Well, that's a heavy load to bear

So why couldn't I stay silent?
Why couldn't I be careful and compliant?
The impulses of my frustration
Became the symbol of a dying nation
Eager to rebel

(chorus)

They say I lit the spark
That consumed us all in flame
They say I can lead this war
I can't help thinking I'm to blame
For watching the destruction
For following instructions
For letting them use my name
The leading player in their hunger game

(chorus)

  • You are so talented!!!!!!!!!! I am a HUGE fan of the hunger games and I just came across this on a post on tumblr! I can totally imagine your song playing in the film. I really hope Suzanne Collins finds this and submits it to be in the Hunger Games music tracklist. ♥ You are beautiful!

  • Seriously. The Hunger Games got better after I listened to this! I'm telling everyone I know who likes the Hunger Games. This should so be in the movies. :)

  • This is SO beautiful! You are SO talented! :) Love your lyrics. I can't pick a favorite part of them... They're just so beautiful! :)

  • Thank you for making this.I feel like Mockingjay gets a lot of hate from fans but I think it was the best of the series because it most realistically described the pain 'heroes' face when there's no longer a clear-cut villain. Harry Potter skipped over the longterm suffering part, it's hidden in the "nineteen years later", but Suzanne Collins wrote a whole book about it. Once again you've managed to perfectly express my feelings about the book in song. Especially love the chorus, you're amazing

  • This is an awesome song. Check out my song. Paste: Original Song. Hunger Games (Fire).
