A fan video on "Macbeth" (1971), dir. Roman Polanski, focused on the character of Banquo. Music: Immediate Music.

Sorry for the low resolution - this was my second vid ever and I was still learning about format conversion and vidmaking programmes.

  • Hmm, this film would definitely be interesting to watch in its entirety... Great vid once more, Greenheart! Thank you for sharing.

    BTW, this music is perfect...

  • IMHO, almost 40 years later this is still the best Macbeth movie ever.

    Thanks for your kind words!

  • Very well done.

    Excellent!

Polanski's Macbeth is in my opinion - clearly THE best film adaptation of any Shakespeare play ever. And it isn't even close.

One feels that one is actually transported into bloody Scotland in the 10th century or whenever and you are there in the blood, mud, mist, witches, curses, all things Scottish.

    Great casting.

I know Polanski has many faults - so did Macbeth and Lady Macbeth.

    :-)

    Great work.

  • Thank you! :)

I second this - I too believe this is THE best film adaptation of any Shakespeare play ever.

  • This is a really great video, I truly enjoyed it!

  • Hey, thank you very much! Glad you liked it! :)

  • @Friendo1231 Beware Caeserian births then, there's a few about...

  • I watched this movie in my senior english class. xD SUCH a good movie. :)

  • mad bad and sumptuous, and then there was Lizzy I ...........

  • @itsareligionofpeace I would say this is the best Macbeth, but Zefirelli made the best Romeo and Juliet; Kenneth Brannagh the best Henry V, and Laurence Olivier the best Richard III. It's hard to say one is better than another but this Macbeth is certainly my favourite along with Zefirelli.

  • is this the music from attila?

  • I bought the film today for five quid. It's got Martin on the cover. Nice.

  • This is far and away THE BEST film adaptation of any Shakespeare play ever. And it isn't even close. Outstanding casting, acting and directing.

The viewer can easily lose himself in this film, forget that he is actually watching a movie of a play, instead - you feel as if you are actually in Scotland (11th century?), amongst the mud, blood, thanes, witches, curses and so much fun stuff.

Loved it. And there has been nothing like it since - what was it? 1971?

  • Haven't seen this movie since 1993/94 when we had to study it for GCSE. Back then, I immediately recognised him as that actor from The Professionals. I don't think anyone else mentioned it in our class.

Thanks for bringing back the memories. :))

  • I bear a charmed life, which must not yield to one of woman-born.

  • damn ive gotta watch this movie again
