Actually, no. Processed foods are worse. In the wild they eat nearly all fruit. It's a myth because when chinchillas were first bred, Americans screwed up bad and there was a generation of chins that did have problems digesting fruit. Naturally, if you feed them too much they will have problems like any animal. But it's fine once a day. So I suggest you don't breed chimchilla's because you would screw up. Thank you.

hm..not so sure about feeding fresh fruit, i heard it can cause diaharrea, you should try rolled oat, rose hip or shredded wheat instead =)
