Can't wait for the battle. Still I wonder, why is that you need to shoot light at him before you actually reach him? Does that weaken him or something? Is the dragon that strong that you can only defeat him with 'dragonsbane' and the light?

The dragonsbane is strictly storyline, it doesn't do anything to the fight. The light, however, reduces his hp regeneration. With all 4 lights on him he only regens 30 hp a turn, with none, it's safe to say he's invinsible.
