I parcelled and served the first 43 feet of standing rigging. Only 1,560 feet to go. Also working on the cheeks and trestle trees and coating the mast with tung oil and pine tar.

  • I turned the fan off and my respirator off to do video. The fumes got to me a little, so I sound a bit affected by the solvents in the air.

  • Ok, i'm a moron, as I watched the rest of the vid, I saw you already have what i was describing. ha!

  • @Raxarax Hi, the 15 feet / hr includes rubbing lanolin on wire, wrapping with the cloth hockey tape, serving wire and then painting the service.

  • wow. Wonder if you could work up some sort of a jig to wrap the twine. Maybe make it out of wood and mount the twine spool on it. Could design it after the industrial wire twisters here: 2:00-2:30 and 3:20-3:40 /watch?v=yRhl5fA0wUY

    And here: /watch?v=q_U12xFO0-s

That might speed up your wrapping time, or might be too much effort for the end result.

  • @Raxarax Thanks for the links.

  • I love the odour of pine tar, it always reminds me of the wax you put on your cross-country skis. That ski wax really has a special smell.

  • A huge effort you are making, I have respect for your work!

  • Oh, glad to see you are back Captain Jim!
