for some reason I'm imaging the stench of my bassets breath when I watch this video. If this basset is anything close to my dog's vile breath, I feel so bad for that guy!

@lotsofsmarts I'm thinking about getting a basset. Currently I work 5 hours a day, so how will this affect him, me being away from 8 in the morning till 1 in the afternoon? I mean, how do bassets cope with being on their own for about 5 hours, and can you recommend anything to do/give them in order for them to be satisfied? I'm trying to learn a lot about these, so I'll have a happy dog. Thanks.

I love the face she makes when you try to get up, it looks like she's saying "where the f**k you think you going? Stay here and be my pillow!!" lol

@joeyshuny5 you go girl... just remember do your homework. they are not outdoor dogs which seems funny since they are hounds. They have hair closer to humans so they do get chiled. They will die of loneliness or escape to greenr pasteurs if left alone outside too long. Need lots of love and attention and lots of socialization with other dogs from a young age else they can become very shy bcus they ar lovers not fighters. get child protectors for low cabinets. stupid they arent!

@lotsofsmarts OMG you're so lucky!!!! That is my dream dog. I've wanted one since I was a little girl. My hubby and I are waiting till we get a little yard for him to play in. I even have his name picked out. It will be Norman Samuel Vester.

That poor Basset isn't loved at all...lol I bet she's convinced she's a princess like my lab is..We have to physically pick her up and move her off our bed because she gets between us and will push one or the other off, usually me.

That awkward moment waking up from the one night stand.

@lotsofsmarts Yep, stubborn, escape artist, counter surfers. I've got two of 'em. That pretty much sums 'em up! I love them so much.
nothing like a Basset hound! I have two and they are big love bugs! Lovable, huggable, squeezable, soft and cuddly! But not for everyone because they are also stubborn, escape artists, can gravitate to the top of a 4 foot counter and steal your food! Droopy and drooly and can smell like crazy especially if they are out in the rain! But no other doggy for me!
