Greek-Albanian Border - 1990 - EUROPE EXPRESS - Channel 4

This report was broadcast on the 10th of February 1990. Denied permission to enter Albania, we filmed at the southern border with Greece and concentrated on the problems of Albanian refugees migrating to Yoannina.

Unrest had just begun in Tirana and the minority problems in the Balkans, like the Greek M.P. interviewed here rightly foresees, would unfold "like a chain".

  • How things have changed in Albania!!! The wierdes things about the presenter of this report is that she is aclled Miss STASI . (Miss State Security, East german style)

  • thank you for your comments.

From Anastasius, and abbreviated "Stasis", my father's family name is common today among people of Greek-Albanian origin from Epirus. They were refugees in the South of Italy escaping the Muslim invasions of the 16th century.

  • @YiannisThiakos Not to mention the cultural and religious differences between albanians and greeks or italians. Not to mention the racism that can describe many young albanian boys. Not to mention the fact that albanians behaved their women like semihumans, like they used to in the 1800s.Albanian women had no rights, and in greece were many situations of missbehavior in albanian families and women didnt go to police because were affraid of their ruler-husbands or tought that police is bad for them

  • No offence, but albanians lived in very primative situations, and when they fled to italy and greece, in the 90s, the greeks and italians were petty for them, not sympathising but petty.I can accept that italians and greeks never behaved farelly to the immigrants, but the way the albanian immigrants behaved was savadge and let little room for sympathy.Criminality in greece and italy increased rapidly because of albanian mafias and idividual criminality.People were leaving albania for 2 decades

  • "The muslim invasion" is the right word to inspire Breiviks of greece! It is all about religion to you people! No crucifix no life eh? You would not be entitled to that suffix to your name! Or is it in the focus of propaganda that Skanderbeg was a greek called Jorgo?!
