Custom built 13.5" long wooden hull with fiberglass reinforcement. The water jet is a Graupner 19mm unit from Hobby Lobby. The motor is a 3000kV brushless outrunner (usually used in 450 helis) and it is controlled by a 40a ESC. High torque mini servo controls steering. The battery is a 2200mAh Turnigy Lipo. All of the electronics are from Hobby King.
Video made using a GoPRO HD Hero and OpenShot, an opensource project for Linux.

  • Awesome looking boat mate ! Did you mount the jet into the hull? Also, have you had any thoughts of putting a bucket for reverse and all the fun stuff that come with a jet with a reverse bucket same as the big guys :) oh yer you put the vid together very well, good work

  • @waterworkss Yes, I epoxied the jet drive into the hull. Initially I attempted to make it removable but there were too many leaks. And yes, the reverse bucket certainly adds some fun (stops like it hit a brick wall) however, I don't have the servo or channel for that on my radio. Thanks for the comment!

  • Thanks! The feedback is much appreciated!

  • @wendtb Hey yo, I feel the same way regarding availability of boat jet drives,! I want one also. I have seen a few plastic type pop up every now and again on ebay but, check this out! hobby king Bet ya can't ;) hope ya do :)

  • nice work.. like the video.. dont be shy with it though.. Jetboats are meant to be flipped and flogged haha.

the jet drives don't seem to be as common as they should be.. why isn't there more good manufacturers!!.. I've been wanting to make my formula fastech a jetboat for a while, but I havent scoured the internet to find the jetdrives.. Hobby Lobby is the only place ive seen??

  • Great Video man!
