Buying ETFs can save massive amounts on commission compared to stocks (it's usually free).
Also, buying stock introduces company specific risks that you may not be able to foresee through research.
If you are buying a gold mining stock to speculate just on the price of gold, it might be better to buy a gold ETF instead.

@ThebirdmanTrainer I was wondering the same thing. I guess the guy from " rich dad poor dad" was right. These ETF funds are for investors who do not want to do any homework. ETFs are liking buying 7cars just in case one breaks down. LOL

Wouldn't you be better off doing your own research and buying the companies you want. I don't understand the benefit of ETF's. Is it just that you don't have to think? Less work?
