that was scorpionfish, not a stonefish. Closely related though.

When i was in africa i was going into the sea with a guide he grabbed a stock and punched the fish all the water get purple realy weard it was a lot of potion

Same family both poisonous google stone fish and scorpion fish images then you be the judge. I have seen many of these just off of Boynton inlet close to shore in lobster shelves
