  • I wiould love to see a vid of them dancing to Cat Stevens "Was Dog a Doughnut" by Cat Stevens that was in musical anyone have it?????? I wish this was on DVD!

  • Lastly, I have fond memories of attending a gypsy preview/dress rehearsal of the 1st natl. tour cast of DANCIN' preparing to head out. Was dancing with the Berlin Ballet at the Met, & we were invited to attend, which only a few of us did (fools, that didn't). I think an old classmate of mine from the Harkness Ballet trainee program was in the cast, but can't remember his name. Anyone have advice for how I might find it out? Thanks so for putting this up, & I'd love to see any more you have.

  • The other music heard also perfectly brings back that era: Miss Randy Crawford, wailing that great hit "Street Life," the title tune from the Crusaders' album. She was (& probably still is) a great jazz, soul, r&b singer; think I'll go seek out some of her music now.

  • This is like a little peep-hole drilled through time and life, through which I get to look. SO perfectly evocative of that era, for a dancer of the time. Love hearing David Sanborn's "Hideaway" album, whch had a track named for his then-girlfriend, who danced in Louis Falco's co.; Falco set a marvelous solo for himself to music from the albm--I thnk to the title tune, tho' it may have included others; I'm sure I wasn't alone in also using that music to choreograph, & for barre/practice, as here.

  • I knew so many of these people ... Ramon, Stanley, Doug, Tonda ... oh my ...

  • fabulous! Thanks for posting. And, beautiful fouette turns there at the end, whoever you are :)

  • Ooooh!! That's you, eh? LOL. I didn't realize it was Dougster2810. Gotta pay more attention to the other posts before posting, lol.

    Love your moves!!

  • Blonde dude should've auditioned for Cassie, lol. That tiny bit of "Music and the Mirror" was really awesome!!

This was before my time but somehow makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, almost as if I lived through that time.

  • @dougster2810

Dougster - I've never seen any footage of DANCIN' besides the TV commercials for it around that time... do you have any? Where can I find some? Wonder if they have it at the Lincoln Center NYPL archives... (probably)?

And who was that sweet little male dancer at the beginning and doing all those fouette turns? He's adorable! What's his name? Do you know if he ever ended up doing Mistofelees in CATS? He'd have been perfect (hope he's still around !).

  • That blond boy's just rehearsing for Saturday night.
