ANAHEIM - A 17-year-old motorcyclist died hours after he was involved in a crash with a sedan and thrown 75 feet from his bike, police said.

The teen, identified as Kevin Tran, of Anaheim, died of multiple traumatic injuries at UCI Medical Center in Orange. The teen was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

The accident was reported shortly before 12:30 p.m. Monday at Orange Avenue, west of Beach Boulevard, across from West Anaheim Hospital, said Anaheim police Sgt. Rick Martinez.

The initial investigation revealed that Tran was traveling east on Beach Boulevard in a blue 2004 Suzuki motorcycle and a 35-year-old man from Reseda was traveling west on Orange in a white 4-door Toyota Yaris.

The man, who has not been identified, was making a left turn at a signal into an entrance to a medical clinic parking lot, when the accident occurred, Martinez said.

"The Toyota made a left turn in front of the oncoming motorcyclist," Martinez said. "The question right now is who had the right of way. We don't know who is at fault.

The accident is under investigation.
