  • Zak is right about how Bonsai trees are made. They are trimmed ever since the trees are small so they keep the small size and yet can be 100s of years old. So the shape looks like an aged tree while the sizes remain tiny. It takes so long to create really good Bonsai trees which is why they are VERY expensive. And most people don't have gardens like that. Japanese gardens are typically seen in temples, palaces etc., although some people do have a much smaller version of these gardens. :)

  • @TheMrWorks Some cacti have a "tap root" which reaches deep into the ground, but they are mostly used for stability. If the root system is for collecting water it's usually shallow and widespread. The surface area of the cactus vs its interior mass really does help it retain most of its water, though.

  • @doctorj2u2 That's really cool! I love the Pontalba buildings; they were the first apartment buildings in the USA, right? You're lucky to know so much about your ancestors :)

  • Breanna, Yes New Orleans can be very classy. Part of the garden was funded by two New Orleans sisters, Erminia Wadsworth and Marion Wadsworth Harvey. They are descendants of Samuel Stewart, as I am, the contractor of Jackson Square and the Pontalba Apartments. You two are just adorable. Thank you for investigating and spreading the love of the city we love so much.

  • Nice editing!

  • my guess is that those "fruits" are birds of paradise flowers...i have them in my backyard and always impress classmates when we have to bring in flowers for a teacher's gift or something

  • Lol this vid was awesome! I loved the roses (typical English girl!). Aww, roses are so romantic ^_^ I will have to visit New Orleans again xxx
