If it wasn't for his steadfastness during a terrible time we would not be the power we are today. You should change your name, defenderoFreedom.

@defenderoFreedom If it wasn't under his presidency it was going to be the next. The North and South were splitting before he was elected. The South was too arrogant and thick-headed to see that their way of life was hypocritical and cuel (slavery was their economic stronghold). Most of the founding fathers wanted to abolish slavery in the Constitution but whiny Southern reps threatened to not join. They needed those states so they comprimised.

My mother from Ohio considered this so terrifying and evil I was not allowed to see it in '69. Shared with my French husband, who is likely to find it interesting. When the first moon landing took place, the old folks in my nabe told us kids to ignore it, it was fake. They were right. It was done in Utah, I got confirmation last year. It doesn't matter if president Jefferson Davis or Abe Lincoln would've won the war, it was bound to happen and it wasn't going to be pretty. But none the less, the poor guy had his brains blown out after the pain of the worst war in America's history, you know?
