Accutane - week 21 (day 144)

My derm decreased my dosage from 80 mg per day to 40 mg per day. :( Oh well, anything to keep me healthy while I'm on these meds. I have 1 active pimple which is upsetting considerng I'm on month 5. Oh and by the way, just a little disclaimer.....I WOULD NOT have a baby just to clear up my skin. I'm 30 and my mom wants me to hurry up and have a baby anyway. :)

I guess it depends on your dermatologist. My 2 forms of birth control are abstinence and condoms for backup. BC pills will end up giving you hormonal breakouts. My cousin was on accutane with the pill and she cleared up but once she got off the pill she broke out again. Waste of time & money in my opinion. They only check your blood work for pregnancy & cholesterol, mainly triglycerides. As long as you cut down on fatty foods & don't have sex, you should be good! Good luck!

hey do you have to be on birth control pills even if you are not sexually active, cuz I went on birth control for 2 months and it broke me out like crazyyy, I am starting accutane in 2 weeks, I was just wondering what if you don't take the birth control pills, would it show up in your blood tests?
