[ENG] Hitachi Data Systems: Kennemer Gasthuis - Spaarne Ziekenhuis

Thanks to the new system, the Kennemer Gasthuis and the Spaarne Ziekenhuis today have 80 TB of easily expandable storage capacity. Hitachi Data Systems also trained six employees in the two hospitals to allow them to manage the storage environment independently.

The Kennemer Gasthuis in Haarlem and the Spaarne Ziekenhuis in Hoofddorp are two separate hospitals. However, they work closely together for their IT infrastructure. In the medical sector as well the amount of data is increasingly rapidly. Files are growing in size all the time. One of the reasons is that, more often, hospitals are adding colour photographs to patients' electronic medical records. Also, medical information needs to be stored over longer periods. The hospitals were looking for a stable environment with a great deal of storage capacity which the IT-administrators could easily expand. Naturally, all the information needed to be available at all times. Hitachi Data Systems installed three Universal storage platforms supplemented by SAN components and back-up applications. The two hospitals each have their own storage environment and Hitachi established a third location elsewhere, in Heemstede, for export scenarios and tests.
