  • absolutely wonderful

  • @drigin1234 Thanks :-)

  • Wow, cool vid.

Like gliding on a cloud. Are these still in regular service in Pittsburgh?

We used to ahve a tone of these in Toronto up until the early 90's. Now, they just run on a Sunday morning for the summer.

  • This is former TTC PCC streetcar 4609 running in Kenosha, WI as the "Pittsburgh" car. Thanks for watching and commenting.

  • PCC Streetcar = RELIABLE

  • We don't have them anymore in Pittsburgh. The last one ran in 1999 on the 'T' line. The last one to run regular service downtown was in 1985. Now we all have to rely on the buses, which are always late, especially when it snows.

These PCC cars got everyone home on time; when it snows now, there is at least a two or three hour commute from downtown to any part of the city. So ridiculous!! I'd love to see a return of these cars- they ran on electricity = green!!

  • They ruined pgh when they took out the street cars I HATE THE BUSSES...

  • We think we are moving forward, but in reality, well.... These things move through the worst of weather about as well as a subway, if not better. Buses are hopeless. Street cars, LRV's, and subways attract people to them and to their routes for one thing, and one thing mainly, "they are RELIABLE!" Those of us with property near rail lines notice the increase in our property value, and sleep better at night knowing that we can make it in to work, despite the odds.

Yes! I was there in March of 2008 and did ride on it (painted green). Was so cool, and they really took care of it. It still felt very powerful and responsive. I would take that over any 'new' streetcar anyday. The greatest part was one of the posters described how that particular car was bought from Toronto (where I live) so I definitely felt that extra connection (I might have rode on it as a kid).

Also had the Peter Whitt cars I believe. SF is definitely a great city.

  • @at1212b If you ever go to San Francisco, California. Check out the PCC cars that are still running. A they have been painted in the different colors of cities such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Birmingham, San Diego, Detroit, Minniapolis/St. Paul, Newark New Jersey, Chicago, Brooklyn, Boston,Mexico City, Toronto Canada, El Paso, Washington D.C. and Cleveland. Worth a ride and bring your camera for photos
