I just love the fact that WDIV now broadcasts a bigger/better parade; America's Thanksgiving Parade.

WOW! Finally some audio of Jerry Snyder, booth announcer at Channel 4.

"Do you know who's bringing you this telecast this morning? Somebody who sponsors it." Sonny Eliot's sense of humour never ceases to amaze. Is that his wife Annette holding the umbrella in the introduction?

I was in this parade, as a former Husdonian, I sure do miss that grand old store. Macys cannot compare to the granduer of Hudsons. Now living in Atlanta, and having the Lighting of Macy's (formerly Rich's) great tree, its still a tradition here that I have also participated in when I was a buyer for Rich's in the 80's. At least Macy's holds on to that for we Atlantans.

all this is, is a commercial for a bank that no longer exists.

Sonny must have predicted the rain

There will soon be automated teller machines...

Circus World was a big Detroit based toy store mall chain.
I think this Detroit Santa Parade is from 1976 since the Detroit Parade first took place in 1924 and add 52 years and you get 1976.

The Parade is actually from earlier, but 1978, not 1976. Program promos before the Parade broadcast are for November 24, 1978. The Parade did not operate in 1943 or 1944, so this was the actual 52nd Parade. Information has been edited to reflect 1978, as well as on two supporting commercials.
