Rooster and I on our May 2010 Eagle Rock Loop backpacking trip. We had a great time in a surprisingly beautiful Arkansas. Rooster and I are avid backpackers and hiked at least 300 miles that summer. This trip was especially memorable because he and I suffered the worst case of heat rash EVER!!! But lessons were learned and mistakes will not be repeated. Rooster may be seen sporting his Gossamer Gear Mariposa Ultralight pack. We make every effort to pack as light as possible while maintaining both trail and camp comfort. His pack weighed in at just under 12 lbs for a 3.5 day trip and mine weighed right at 16 lbs. We make most of our gear too, from alcohol stoves to our walking sticks. See my other vids for how-to's on hiking gear.
You guys know how to do it right. I just wish the picture quality was better. The wife and I are going to be doing a couple of days on the Ouachita this spring on the Oklahoma side.

@rowdybeaver33 I wish the pic quality was better as well. Humidity is hard on my camera. The OK side of the Ouachita and Ozark trails is equally as beautiful. Word of caution: be aware of flash floods during the spring due to mountain run off and late afternoon showers. Hike safe my friend!
